Hajj and Umrah are journeys of dua. While you can pray in any language from the heart, learning the duas taught by the Prophet ﷺ adds blessing and focus. Save this page on your phone to use during your journey.
Small booklets with a special dua for each Tawaf round are popular, but there is no authentic fixed dua per round. Pray for what is in your heart – in Urdu, Hindi, English or Arabic.
1. Dua for Travelling
Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqaliboon.
Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it ourselves. And surely to our Lord we shall return. (Qur’an 43:13–14)
2. Intention for Umrah
Labbayk Allahumma ‘Umrah.
Here I am, O Allah, for Umrah.
For Hajj say: “Labbayk Allahumma Hajjan”.
3. The Talbiyah
Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Surely all praise, blessings and dominion belong to You. You have no partner. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
4. Entering the Masjid
Bismillah, was-salatu was-salamu ‘ala Rasulillah. Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik.
In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy. (Muslim, Abu Dawud)
5. Starting Each Round of Tawaf
Bismillahi Allahu Akbar.
In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest. Said while facing or pointing towards the Black Stone.
6. Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-nar.
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Qur’an 2:201)
7. At Safa and Marwah
When approaching Safa at the start of Sa‘i, recite: “Innas-Safa wal-Marwata min sha‘a’irillah” (Qur’an 2:158). Then face the Kaaba, raise your hands and say three times:
None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and the praise, and He has power over all things. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone; He fulfilled His promise, supported His servant and defeated the confederates alone. (Muslim)
Make your own dua between these repetitions. Do the same at Marwah.
8. When Drinking Zamzam
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for.” (Ibn Majah). Many scholars mention this dua:
Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman nafi‘a, wa rizqan wasi‘a, wa shifa’an min kulli da’.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision and a cure for every illness.
9. On the Day of Arafah
The best dua is the dua of the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is this. (Tirmidhi)
10. Leaving the Masjid
Allahumma inni as’aluka min fadlik.
O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty. Leave with your left foot. (Muslim)
Prepare Your Personal Dua List
Before you travel, write down the duas you want to make – for yourself, your parents, family, friends who asked you to pray for them, and the Ummah. When you stand before the Kaaba or at Arafat, emotions can be overwhelming; a list helps you remember everyone.
